Soccer referee uniforms may just be simple and ordinary to see but it has gone into many revisions these past few years. A complete soccer referee uniforms includes the jersey shirt, shorts, socks (with white stripes in some cases), shoes and badge.
Traditionally, the uniform allowed is only black, only when a certain team wears the same color that the referee should change his jersey’s color. He could either wear a red or yellow one to distinguish him on the field. Along the jersey is the black shorts, socks and shoes completes the set.
Revisions of the shades of the jersey came later on, FIFA allows the referees to wear jerseys having four colors namely the black, red, yellow, and blue. On 1994 World Cup Finals, new sets of colors were allowed to be worn like the burgundy, yellow, or white. The green jersey was introduced at the FA Premiere. Lately, the official combination includes blue/black.

- Your uniform should adapt to your movement to give you the freedom you need to move around the field. This is specially applicable to the shorts. Shorts should be lightweight, comfortable and should make you stand out.
- Shirts ideally must have two pockets secure enough to hold the referee’s book and cards. Left chest pocket must have the badge displaying the referee’s seal, license level and specially year of validity affixed to it.
